Back to the Fyootcha!

January 5, 2010 3 comments

So I figured to commemorate the last months of this blog’s existence, I’d go back to the theme I started out with. Sweet memories. Or something like that.

This Christmas break was just awesome. Got spoiled with all the lovely gifts from my family, the future in-laws, and Jenn. Got the LEGO Grand Carousel, a safety razor shaving kit from Jenn (I am all that is man), some killer binoculars with a built-in digital camera, assorted gift cards, and some very comfy slippers, among other things. I got Jenn the Eternal Love Cross pendant from James Avery, and she wears it every day now. It looks amazing on her. Oh, and we got a Wii! And Jenn got Wii Fit+ and that Jenny McCarthy workout game that comes with a camera that watches to make sure you’re doing the exercises right. Kinda creepy, but it should be fun. Haha!

One of the best things about Christmas this year, hands down, was that we finally got a White Christmas!

It snowed like the dickens on Christmas Eve. Like, blowing sideways and prohibiting your vision… dickens. Yeah, anyway, it calmed down overnight, but it was still BEAUTIFUL for Christmas Day. That was such an awesome treat. Wish it would snow again, as cold as it is outside. We’re supposed to see the coldest temperatures in a loooooong time around here starting tomorrow night. Like, wind chills around 0 degrees in the evenings. Yay!

We went to City Streets in Sundance Square for New Year’s Eve. It was fun to do some dancing with Jenn (and Misty made a friend that she danced with all night, hehe). And at midnight, Jenn and I looked at each other and said, “Now we can finally say ‘We’re getting married this year!'” LOL

Speaking of that, we got the tuxes picked out for me, the groomsmen, the dads, and the ringbearers. They look pretty dang slick, I can’t wait to see how we all look together. Along with that, over the holiday, Jenn’s also been working on some paper mache letters for a couple of the tables at the reception. She has some that spell out “WE DO” for the cake table, and “love is sweet” for our candy buffet table. They look really pretty, she’s done an excellent job with them.

Got some pretty big stuff ahead of me in the next couple months. Not only am I applying to graduate, but I’m going to be taking the TExES on February 6th. For those of you who don’t know, that’s the state certification exam that all Texas teachers have to take. And I’m taking it a month from tomorrow. Whoa! Talk about surreal, huh? I can’t believe I’m finally at this point. I get butterflies thinking about it. After ten years of jackin’ around and not knowing what to do with my life, I’m finally about to step into not only married life, but a full-on professional life. I think I may go get some of those paper mache letters, spell out “paraprofessional” with them, and burn them in a celebratory bonfire. 🙂

Anyway, say a prayer for us. These five months leading up to graduation and the wedding are going to be completely crazy, and Jenn and I are gonna need all the support we can get.

Oh, and we saw Sherlock Holmes. Frickin’ SWEET movie. I so want the soundtrack.

LOUD NOISES.

It could only be Friday.

I have a new theory about morning traffic around my place of employment. I’m calling it Big C’s Theory of Student/Rain Relationships:

“On any given day, the length of the tardy lines outside the Assistant Principals’ offices is directly proportionate to how much it’s been raining that morning.”

Seriously, friend, you can put money on that. It’s absolutely absurd how late the students are when there’s rain coming down. And apparently, I had the blessed luck of being behind most of these kids on the road this morning. As a result, I was a couple of minutes late. Lame.

Anyway, TGIF. I’m going to get my hurah cut after school, then Jenn and I are meeting my dad at his travel agent’s office so we can figure out our honeymoon to Hawaii. To say we’re excited is a bit of an understatement. 🙂 Have a great weekend!

I’m Provocative in Writeing!

Why hello fellow forum people! I just wanted to establish myself here as this looks like a dialect right interesting forum! I myself am provocative in things like writeing and computer revamping so if anyoune needs serve farm out me identify! I also Suffer from Sciatica so if you aslo have this condition cause to me know so we can share out some stretches!

How’s that for bizarre? I got that in my Spam folder as a comment here.

So this weekend freakin’ rocked. Saturday was the Grand Life Expo at church, which was a blastie blast. Food, classic cars, farm animals, dogs, bounce houses, music, all free. Very cool stuff. Then Sunday night, we had a party for the Youth called The Awakening, which featured laser tag, basketball, pizza, the Trae Castles Band, and an illusionist named Jared Hall. Jay Lowder also spoke to them that night, and it was intense. We had 50 kids come to Christ that night, it was amazing. We also gave away to the kids an iPod Touch, Airsoft guns, Coach purses, a Vizio TV, and a car. Yep, that’s right, a car. It was just a little ’91 Ford Probe. But hey, it was some kid’s first car, so that was awesome. Plus, it had been totally restored, so it was in practically new condition when the kid got it. Great stuff. 🙂

All in all, it was definitely one of those weekends I didn’t wanna have to go back to work after experiencing. Don’t you hate that? You have this life-changing, mind-blowing, multi-hyphenated-experience… then you have to go back to being Clark Kent. It sucks, y’know? I don’t know how we all get through it without going crazy.

Nevertheless, on and on we go. At least we have some chilly weather to enjoy. I’ve been wearing my jacket most of the past couple of days at work. It’s kind of a weird feeling, I’m not used to being cold like this on a regular basis. Usually I’m the one who’s all like, “Aww man, you weenie! Take off the jacket and be a man!” But now I’m getting cold a whole lot easier for some reason. I wonder if it’s my metamobomolism or the new diet or something.

That’s all for now. Have a good one, friend.

Today’s been… I dunno, irritating? I had to go outside to one of the temporary buildings and pull a computer to reimage it, because it was loaded down with a lovely virus. And of course, by the time I got out there, the cold front had blown through. So I had to walk through the chilly mist with a CPU tucked under my arm, which is fun like you’ve never experienced. I’m exaggerating a little, it wasn’t THAT bad. I actually appreciated the cold after the horrid mugginess I had to walk through at UTA yesterday afternoon. Seriously, I thought it was July again. Yuck.

Anyway, really, the walk outside wasn’t too bad this morning. But on the flip side, dealing with a certain coworker has been pretty rough today. I’m certainly not going to name any names, because I have no desire to spread the hate. But I’ve been really disappointed in how unprofessional they were when complaining about the fact that the teacher computer in the lab crashed this morning. The complaining was… prolonged, I guess you could say. Totally unnecessary. Of course, as soon as I start doing something about it, I’m BFF again. Ridiculous stuff.

BUT, I’m not gonna let it get me down. Still not a horrible day, all things considered. Yesterday was pretty silly. The students were released early, so they could go take the PSAT. The teachers used my labs for training all afternoon, Science in one, English in another, Math in another, etc.. Anyway, long story short, I had two printers glitch out at the same, on opposite ends of the building. Yay! It was really pretty funny the way it happened, and it all worked out in the end. The teachers and AP’s were really patient about all the issues that flared up, and we were all kinda having fun with it, so that made life a little easier while dealing with the crappy old printers. This one printer I have here in my “home” lab has been giving me a “service software error” lately. But every time I turn in a district help ticket and James comes out to look at it, the error message goes away. When James was leaving yesterday, I told him I’d call him once he stepped out the front door of the school and the error message popped up again. HAH. Of course, now that it’s figured out that I know what it’s up to, it’s not doing that anymore. It’s just sitting there. Watching me. Waiting…. waiting…….

Anyway…

Check it out! Ignore the lousy drawing on the right side of the box there. Didn’t work out like I wanted it to. But anyway, this is my first shipment out of the toys I’m selling! And so far it’s the only batch I’ve sold. So if anyone’s still interested, please go check out what I’m offering! We can certainly negotiate the price a little, if you want to. Just let me know.

Ever watched one? Ever been in one?

I’m going to be a groomsman for a friend who’s supposed to be getting married next weekend, and quite frankly, it’s a mess. The maid of honor has backed out, the best man might be backing out, and Lord knows what else is happening. It’s such a mess, and I’m not sure what’s going on. This Saturday is supposed to be his bachelor party… we’ll see if it’s still gonna happen. Say a prayer for this couple when you get a chance, if you don’t mind. I feel bad for the guy, and the whole thing is just falling apart.

*sigh* This is not what I wanted to wake up to. I slept hard last night, and I’m having a hard time de-sleeping my brain. The weather’s still not helping, either. No rain right now, but the overcastyness is just knocking me out. I’d like nothing more than to just curl up in a big fuzzy ball and pass out for a couple weeks.

I crossed something off of my non-existent bucket list yesterday. I finally learned how to make a paper crane. 🙂 It’s something I’ve always wanted to do ever since I was a wee one, and it’s always frustrated me that I could never figure it out. But I found this website full of origami instructional goodness, and voila!

I’m pretty dang proud of myself. I’ma see what else I can make from the instructions on that site.

This weather is so nice. I wish it would last all day. I also wish I was still in bed listening to it, as opposed to being in the basement of University Hall, listening to my incredibly Japanese professor teach us about American political parties. I say that like it’s a bad thing, but he’s actually pretty awesome. Except for the 15 page paper he assigned us yesterday that’s due on August 5th. That part isn’t so cool. But it’ll be an easy paper to write, so that’s nice.

There’s a dude in here who’s a Political Science major, and he just cracks me up. The guy is trying to look like a total B.A.. His hair is slicked back, he’s very physically fit, he wears a Jaegermeister t-shirt that’s a size too small, and he flirts like crazy with this one girl in here. The funny part? He’s got the goofietht lithp I’ve ever heard. It’s freakin’ hilarious! He triyth to go on theeth ranth about whath wrong with the Republican Party and how Chrithtianity ith dead, and all I can do is laugh at the lisp. I know it’s wrong, I’m sorry. But I just can’t help it. 🙂

This half of the summer has been crazy. I’ve got this class, which has been pretty decent, plus my Images of the American West class in the mornings. My American West class has been pretty sweet. We watched “Stagecoach” last week, and we finished “Dodge City” yesterday. Both are excellent movies, and showed John Wayne and Errol Flynn at their awesomest.

Anyway, I’ve also got my Architecture class at TCC in the evenings. My teacher is this really scatterbrained Jordanian lady. She’s really nice on a personal level, but she’s all over the place as a teacher. It’s really hard to get her to focus when you have a question that needs to be answered. She kinda irritated me last night. We had to have a roughdraft ready for a model we have to build for our midterm project. I kept mine pretty simple, a mildly stylized cross with a couple of pyramids on it. It would have satisfied the criteria she outlined in the assignment sheet, and I was happy. But of course, she comes around to take a look at it last night, and she scribbled like crazy ALL OVER IT. You can’t even see the original design anymore, because she drew what SHE wanted me to make right on top of it. Granted, the design she came up with is really nice, but it was really irritating how she approached changing up my original creation. Not to mention that she made it a whole lot more complex, so I’m not looking forward to figuring out how I’m going to build the stupid thing.

Back on my diet today. I’m STARVING. Gotta stay focused.

Oh, and Blackest Night #1 is freakin’ awesome. This is gonna be one wild story!

Whoops.

Guess the day got away from me, I didn’t blog at work today. Prob’ly cuz I was actually, y’know, WORKING. LOL

Anyway, today was okay. Nothing out of the ordinary. I decided to come on home and skip classes tonight, because there are some severe storms developing and heading this way. Don’t wanna be caught out there in the thick of it.

Actually, I do, because it would be awesome. But better safe than sorry. 😉

Other than that, I’m still experiencing what I like to call “D-Now Hangover.” The splitting headache has finally settled down after two days of agony. I actually just saw Rusty, a friend from church, at Kroger a few minutes ago. He was a leader for the weekend, so we were laughing about the headaches and the general fun of the weekend. He’s a history teacher at South Grand Prairie High School, which is incidentally exactly where I want to be after I graduate, so that’s pretty awesome.

Guess that’s it for now. Gonna sip my Coke Zero and watch this wild weather develop.

By the way, Excedrin? Completely and utterly useless. Hate it.

Welp, classes are canceled at UTA tonight due the impending ice storm of DOOOOOOOOM. Yay! I’m so glad, I don’t think I could handle my Trig class tonight. So boring.

Now, we just need ye olde Arlington Independent School District to have early dismissal. Srsly, they say it’s gonna get bad. So how ’bout it, kids? Can we go home before we has a Skidfest 2009 out on the roads?

Dangit. I was going to post a neat little video that Jenn and I did, but WordPress doesn’t embed Flickr videos. That’s not cool. Google Video and YouTube are blocked at work, so I can’t use them here. I guess I could just post the link. The story behind it is that Jenn, her mom, and Misty went to the Dallas Bridal Show last Saturday, and there was this company there that will come to your reception and make flip books for people as their favors. It’s pretty sweet, but obviously too expensive for us to use. At any rate, they did a flip book for free, and Jenn and I collaborated to capture it on video. Here it be:
